Adolescent Development Programme

The Adolescent Development Programme (ADP) is a year long course taken by all trainees in their first year with C.A.R.E. The ADP is designed to help the young trainee develop as a ‘whole’ person spiritually, physically, intellectually, creatively, emotionally and socially. It is a programme which is aimed at the total development of the individual through a variety of activities, interactions and guides.

The specific objectives of this phase are to help our trainees:

  • Raise their levels of self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Develop proper attitudes towards themselves, towards other people, towards the world and towards work-related situations
  • Foster socially acceptable codes of conduct and discipline
  • Overcome complexes, prejudices and hang-ups that may have been acquired through life experiences
  • Manage conflict and behavior
  • Develop and sustain relationships
  • To take responsibilities for themselves and for their actions
  • To raise the standard of literacy and numeracy skills
  • To provide varies life skills to allow them succeed and strive in many situations of living

At the end of the Adolescent Development Programme, the young person is given the opportunity to train in an income-bearing skill of his/her choice.
